The goddess of the hearth is protector and patroness of the home and marriage, though she is a more gentle and affectionate governor of marriage than is Hera. She is skilled at cooking and fire-building, and she appears to be a quiet, motherly type, a quality that accounts for most of her charisma.
Hestia uses protective spells rather than offensive ones wherever possible. As goddess of the hearth, Hestia’s symbol is the friendly flame; no one within 100 feet of her takes any damage from fire. Her church is a small, quiet one, but it has a loyal flock. Her clerics who go adventuring do so to protect or guard their people, never to gain fame for the church.
Note: Hestia originally appeared in this form in Dragon Magazine 153 for the AD&D game from TSR. His use here is for the purposes of providing context for the campaign only.
