Giant bees are similar to their normal insect counterparts. Bumblebees have nests and do not lose their stinger in combat. Honeybees have hives, and both soldier and worker honeybees lose their stinger after one use and die in an hour. Honey in hives or nests is of proportional quantities. Bee "bread" is excellent food and equal to iron rations.

"Royal jelly," found in only 20% of giant bee homes, can heal wounds and cure disease. It also can be made into sufficient unguent to treat aging. The unguent preserves a youthful look for up to a year. It is greatly prized by rich and noble women, and each unguent jar commands a hefty sum on the open market.

Note: Giant bees originally appeared in this form in the 2nd Edition Monstrous Manual for the AD&D game from TSR. Their use here is for the purposes of providing context for the campaign only.
