Battle of Kimelis

From Ardrana

The Battle of Kimelis was one of the pivotal battles of the southern front of the Wars of Arin. It is most famous for being a turning point in reversing the forward march of the forces of Keraptis, and then the impetus for the creation of Harper's Trail, now one of the most famous roads in Lanad i'Sarois.

Background

The city of Kimelis had long been an important port on the western coast of the Lanad ruled by the Scott family. When the Onyx Empire decided to move south as well as north, the city was one of its first targets. The city was nearly destroyed, and Leeman Scott, the city's ruler, was killed. After this, Leeman's son, Kinwood Scott, officially brought Kimelis into the White Alliance. Over the next few years, the city was rebuilt with the aid of the Alliance.

The battle

After the Onyx Army captured the city of Hanmer in 789 L.C., Morjec determined that Kimelis needed to be taken once and for all. Kinwood Scott led the defenses with the aid of Jarvis Hendramar, a nobleman from Nalishene. However, they knew that the size of the approaching forces were more than they could handle, and word was sent to Morelenas that the city would fall without aid.

The message reached Morley Pallianor, and he dispatched what few ships he had on hand to reach the city by sea. The ships, commanded by Roborandall, took just three weeks to reach the city. The troops, commanded by Sir Roderick Harper, turned the tide, pushing the forces of Morjec out of the city proper, forcing them to retreat to Hanmer.

Aftermath

Once Morjec had retreated, Harper and Scott were able to rally their combined troops. With this victory, the Alliance armies were able to march to the Filitir Forest in just twelve days, allowing the Elves' defenses to hold, and stopping the advance of the Onyx Empire to the south for the remainder of the Wars.
