Dark Guardian

Dark Guardians are ancient magical entities of the Demiplane of Shadow. It is said that one of these creatures was summoned during the final days of The Great Magic War by Auryk to subdue his most powerful opposition. It is a most effective device indeed as it traps the very life essence of its victim and slowly devours them from within. A means to deal with and potentially defeat this foe was being compiled, most notably by the Scarsdale and Chilmire families, but it was forbidden to be brought to their new home after the war by the ruling family.

Recently, a group of adventurers recovered a tome that enabled the priests of Hecate and Apollo to release Orpheus from the destructive grasp of one of these entities.
