The detect enemies spell detects the presence and direction of any creature within a 60-foot radius that has immediately hostile intentions toward the caster. The creature or creatures can be invisible, ethereal, astral, out of phase, hidden, disguised, or in plain sight. The priest feels a compulsion to face each individual enemy in range. The priest need not do so, but unerringly recognizes as hostile any such creature the priest sees. The caster may also detect longer term hostility toward himself or herself, even if no direct attack is imminent.
