Maud Frickert is the Human widow of Ukiah Frickert. She and her husband ran a farm in the village of Promise Junction for many years with the assistance of their farmhand, Vernon. Since her husband's death last fall and the untimely death of Vernon, Maud has had to handle things on her own, with only the couple's dog Cuddles for company. Her pride won't allow the idea of selling the farm, despite her advanced age, so she tries to sweet talk any able-bodied man she encounters to see if they'd be interested in helping an old woman, but this has met with little success thus far.
