Maud Frickert is the Human widow of Ukiah Frickert. She and her husband ran a farm in the village of Promise Junction for many years with the assistance of their farmhand, Vernon. Since her husband's death last fall and the untimely death of Vernon, Maud has had to handle things on her own and her pride won't allow the idea of selling the farm, despite her advanced age.
