The seeking mote spell creates a tiny, bright speck of light in one of the caster’s hands (or in his mouth or emerging from his forehead, or one of his eyes, as needed). It flashes off to strike at a single chosen target, turning and twisting to follow them as a wizard’s magic missile does. Unlike those famous magical pulses, however, a seeking mote can miss. It can also be destroyed by dispel magic spells or magical barriers en route to its target, but otherwise flies to attack a designated target in range, striking once and inflicting damage.

Note: This spell originally appeared in this form in Prayers from the Faithful for the AD&D game from TSR. Its use here is for the purposes of providing context for the campaign only.
