Minotaur

From Ardrana

Minotaurs are huge, humanoid creatures standing well over 7 feet tall, and quite broad and muscular. They have the head of a bull but the body of a Human male. Their fur is brown to black while their body coloring varies as would a normal Human's. Their clothing is minimal, usually a loin cloth or skirt. They usually live in a very primitive fashion, in caves, forests, or ruins, but some small groups -- such as the one that makes its home on the northern Varrag Peninsula -- have developed a more civilized society.

Minotaurs venerate physical strength above all else. The strong, they believe, should naturally rule. Surrender is viewed as weakness, so minotaurs fight (or argue) to the death. They are extremely cunning and have excellent senses. They will attack without fear and retreat only if the opponent is obviously beyond their ability to defeat.

While many minotaurs are brutal, uncivilized savages, they are not mindless killers. Most are ruthless, harsh, and stubborn, but some are thoughtful and even sophisticated. A few are known for gentleness and kindness.

Note: Minotaurs originally appeared in this form in the 2nd Edition Monstrous Manual for the AD&D game from TSR, with additional information drawn from The Complete Book of Humanoids. Their use here is for the purposes of providing context for the campaign only.
