These stones, invented by the conjurer Ormas, are magical devices created from precious or semiprecious stones such as pearls. Their purpose is to attract evil creatures to them, and are often crafted by those wishing to recruit such creatures to do their bidding. It is also sometimes secretly given to one's enemy as a method of causing his or her death without any suspicion.
