Wheel of Fate

From Ardrana

The Wheel of Fate is a device found in every temple of Laurent, the Ardic god of good fortune. It is a wheel that hangs on the wall, divided into thirty-nine sections. These sections are numbered from 1-13 in each of three colors: white, red, and black.

Anyone seeking a boon from the temple must place a donation on the board in front of the wheel. In societies that allow it, this can act as a gambling game similar to roulette. An acolyte then spins the wheel, and the number that comes up is considered indicative of the coming fortunes of the player: white for good fortune, black for ill, and red for neutral or mixed. The number is also significant, depending on its relationship to the Hand of Fate.

It is not known whether this device is of a magical nature, but many suspect that it is due to its purported accuracy. It is also said that any who attempt to steal such devices draw the attention of Laurent's counterpart, Kuraliskar, and are doomed to live under his shadow until it is returned.
