Born in the lands of Kyuden Doji in Jiberia, Reju was prophesied at his birth to be destined for great things. About 5 years after, his gempukku, formerly Doji Reju, was selected by Lady Hitomi to leave the Crane clan and become the Dragon clan champion. The methods that Hitomi used to select her followers were to tattoo them. These tattoos released the inner power that resides in a person, giving them certain powers according to their talents. For Hitomi Reju, his tattoo of the full moon grants him the power to see secret objects and people -- which, as Hitomi could foresee, would give him the ability to fulfill his inevitable destiny.
