Hitomi Reju

Hitomi Reju was a Human samurai from the city of Kirumi, born into the Crane clan but later the champion of the Dragon clan. Well known in his homeland of Jiberia, he sought to increase the glory of the Dragon by visiting the outside world.

Early life

At his birth, it was prophesied that Doji Reju was destined for great things. Born in Kirumi, the land of the Doji family in Jiberia, Reju learned the ways of the samurai at a very young age. Indeed, at the age of five, Lady Hitomi chose him to leave the Crane clan and become the Dragon clan champion. Thus, at his gempukku, Doji Reju became Hitomi Reju.

The method that Hitomi used to select her followers was to tattoo them. These tattoos released the inner power that resides in a person, giving them certain powers according to their talents. For Hitomi Reju, his tattoo of the full moon grants him the power to see secret objects and people -- which, as Hitomi could foresee, would give him the ability to fulfill his inevitable destiny.

Departure from Jiberia

For Hitomi Reju’s first few years as Dragon champion, he was legendary for his skills in dueling and with the blade. His ability to see things that people didn't want him to see made him invaluable as an investigator, and a useful spy in his own right. Hitomi commissioned him to leave Jiberia to seek out items or people from what they call the "gaijin lands" that might help her in her struggle against the lying darkness.

After traveling for some time, Reju arrived in Hanmer to begin his quest. Unfortunately, on his second mission after leaving Jiberia, Hitomi Reju was killed by a shadow burst cast by a drow wizard while exploring a tunnel made by a purple worm. He was laid to rest in Shaiyo, so it seems his destiny will go unfulfilled.
