Lake Varn

Lake Varn is a large freshwater lake located in central Arin. It is the largest such lake in all Ardrana, being fed by water drained from both the Onyl Mountains to the north and the Thair Mountains to the south. It sits at the feet of Mt. Esterrin, which was home to one of many strongholds belonging to the wizard-king Keraptis during the Wars of Arin.

During and after the Wars, the lake was considered hazardous, both for traveling and for drinking, but over the last thirty years, it has cleared considerably. It is also called the Lake of Unknown Depths, as it is in most places so murky that the bottom cannot be seen.
