Saeryt

Saeryt was the name by which the area of The Barrens once ruled by the Scarsdale Family was known in the time before the Great Magic War. Present-day maps simply call the area "Scarsdale", after the family itself, as they do with all the lands held by the nobility of Eksaer. The name Saeryt was also used to refer to the capital city of the region.

The city of Saeryt lies about sixty miles northwest of Imor. Most of the city lies in ruins, covered by a hemispherical cloud of dust called "The Vortex". This cloud, which constantly circulates in a clockwise direction, is centered on a spot in the northern part of the city, where lies a portal to the Quasielemental Plane of Dust. Scholars have conjectured that this portal was opened during the days of the war. The only life known to be in the area is a citadel of the Doomguard, which sits at the southern edge of the city, monitoring its decay.

Evidence of a second settlement, Hemerez, is located about forty miles southeast of the former capital city near the southern bank of the Tumerzot River.
