Samata dan Yuwar is a Human noblewoman from the city of Agropthos. She is younger of two daughters of Sultan Bedou, the elder being her sister Pritiya). She has been studying at the School of the Sand, the local academy dedicated to elemental earth magic.
Samata recently reached the age of sixteen, considered marriageable age in the Seven Deserts. Since her sister has rejected many suitors, the Sultan decided to bypass the process and award Samata's hand to the winner of a competition to retrieve the egg of a blue dragon. Thus, she is now officially betrothed to Prince Dazeem of Daro, although she would prefer to continue her arcane studies.
