Camlek
From Ardrana
Camlek was an Elven druid, originally from the forest of Shael i'Vor. For most of his life, he was a model member of the Druidic Order, following the wisdom of the Cabal. He even rose to the rank of Archdruid, a position of great leadership. Then, something went terribly wrong.
Nobody knows to this day what it was that caused Camlek to snap. Most agree that it was some form of magically induced insanity, for nobody would belief that the otherwise exemplary Camlek would perform the unspeakable acts that he did. However, it was the very fact of Camlek's power that made his insanity so devastating.
For whatever reason, Camlek grew to hate all plant life. It is said that he considered it an infringement upon the animal kingdom, but that is mere rumor, for Camlek took no counsel save his own. Nonetheless, Camlek hid himself from his fellow druids in a small mountain peak that stood apart from the rest of the Onyl Mountains and began to perform experiments. While the other druids sought him, and sent parties of adventurers looking for him, he perfected a method of sweeping the land clean of all plant life. He gained the appellation "The Ice Wizard" from the people of the area, as the effects of ice were a key component of his destructive arsenal.
Eventually, Camlek's lair was located, and he was confronted by Billin, who was then Grand Druid. The two fought, and further destruction was wrought across the northeastern part of Lanad i'Sarois, to the point that the area is now known as the Camlekian Waste. In the end, it is believed that both men perished, and indeed neither has been seen in the nearly forty years since.
The character of Camlek was originally created by David England.
