Eolis

The city of Eolis is the largest city in Faxanadu, the homeland of the Karis. It sits on the shore of the Living Ocean, on the southern border of the region. It was constructed on several islands that are part of the Vorilon River delta, which have been built up to help keep flood waters at bay. Eolis is often the only place in the region that is seen by outsiders, and is where all negotiations are performed and all contracts are arranged. The Karis call it simply "the place where business is done".

Eolis is the only city in Faxanadu that has a substantial population of non-Karis. Its location at the mouth of the Vorilon and the western end of the East-West Road makes it an important trade location, and for this reason the Karis are at least indifferent to the presence of other races. However, they are generally left to the part of the city nearest the shore, while areas further inland are the domain of the Karis.
