Bashing of the Bricks

The Bashing of the Bricks ceremony is a ritual of the land of Odiferous that is used to determine the strength of those who partake in competitions. Each candidate picks his favored weapon and steps up to a brick wall in the Ring of Brute Force. The size of the wall is typically five feet in width and the height of the competitor, and their relative strength is determined by how many bricks they can bash in one blow.

This ritual was brought by Great Priest Molbo from his homeland to his temple in Nazivonema. Any who wish to work out in the arena must participate in this ceremony in order to determine their skill level. The candidate can use any weapon he possesses or, if he prefers, he can choose one from the many weapons that adorn the walls of the main lobby area of the temple. The chosen weapon is then used to smash a two-foot-high by five-foot-wide wall of bricks (the size was adjusted to account for the flimsiness of non-barbarians). The ceremony can be repeated and a candidate's skill level increased or decreased according to his new evaluation.
