Gap of Veclin
From Ardrana
The Gap of Veclin is a two-hundred-mile-wide plain that divides the Onyl Mountains into an eastern and western branch. It is named for the noted explorer Veclin, who came through the gap and founded the country of Tanilon, which lies north and mostly east of the gap.
Many have speculated on the gap's origin. Some say that the mountains here must have been flattened by some cataclysm, likely a magical one, while others say that the Onyl Mountains are actually two separate ranges. The Dwarves tell that the mountains here were turned upside-down by Severn to punish a wayward Dwarven clan. The truth may never be known.
