Mauben

The town of Mauben sits in a prime location, at the crossing of the Old Gnome Road and Harper's Trail. However, it also sits in a mostly-unsettled region in west-central Kellan, only having been settled after the Trail had been built up into a major thoroughfare. Prior to that, the stretch of the Old Gnome Road that passed through this area was considered bandit country, and indeed there are still highwaymen who frequent this area, giving Mauben something of a rough-and-tumble feel.

As a fairly newly organized place, Mauben has no set authority structure. The city is part of the duchy of Hanmer, but other than an appointed mayor and sheriff there is no true government. Some in the area have grown restless at this and accuse the White Alliance of ignoring them, but most of the inhabitants of the area are quite content with that situation.
