Ocsiban

Ocsiban is a Human priest of Demeter, originally from the city of Athens. Until recently, he worked as a magical researcher for the Barrens Reclamation Project (BRP) in the city of Imor. A middle-aged man with salt-and-pepper hair, green eyes, and tan skin with an olive tinge, Ocsiban's talents are undisputed, even if his methods have proven controversial.

Career

Ocsiban left Athens some ten years ago at the urging of his goddess. He quickly drew the attention of Clarendon Marshfield, overseer of the BRP, and appointed to its team. While with the project, he gained a reputation as a diligent and productive part of the staff.

Ocsiban often traveled to other parts of Ardrana to find ingredients for his research. On one such trip a few years ago to the famed Garden of Arbutus in the Cardillic Desert to seek a rare flower, he spent some time in the town of Asyut, where he met his wife, Napretep. This flower turned out to be essential to his greatest project: a magical formula which increases the crop yield of any grain seed to which it is applied. The formula has been hailed by the current powers that be as the first major step in achieving the project's self-named goal. Ocsiban believes and has publicly stated that this formula, if proven successful in restoring the desolate area outside the city, could benefit other ravaged regions.

Controversy

Ocsiban's research has ruffled more than a few feathers among the nobles of Imor as they don't want others seeking out said aid, thereby disrupting the orderly lifestyle Imor currently enjoys. There are rumors that this led to his abrupt departure from Imor last spring. He left the city with his formula and somehow came to the village of Promise Junction. He left his formula in the care of local farmer Ukiah Frickert, along with a large sack of grain which had been treated with it. After Mr. Frickert's death in the autumn, the grain was stolen by Bokbok, a kobold priest of Gaknulak, who is believed to be using its unstable characteristics to create mutant animals for whatever scheme he might be plotting.

Current status

After departing Imor in secret, Ocsiban's current whereabouts are unknown, although his brown wristband was found in the woods northeast of Promise Junction...and so the search continues.
