Battle of Hanmer

From Ardrana

The Battle of Hanmer took place during the early days of the invasion of Kellan, the second phase of the Wars of Arin. The southern branch of the Onyx Army, led by Morjec, had made its way to just north of the city, using the Kellanic Catacombs, taking the defenses by surprise. The White Alliance was still new, and not expecting an attack so deep into Kellan so soon, and so had only a small force in the city. Argon Milsley, the lord of the city, was nominally the leader of the White Army forces, but in practice they were led by Sergeant Colans.

The battle itself was one-sided, although the city held out for a few days. The defensive forces faced enemies coming both from outside and from below, but Colans rallied them to make a stand on the east side of the city, along the west bank of the Hanaelon River. Colans himself was killed by a troll as he attempted to guide non-combatants over the bridge on the Hanaelon. The bridge has since been dubbed the Colans Bridge in his honor. Many strategists credit Colans with giving the White Army enough time to regroup for the eventual Battle of the Three Armies.
