Onyx Army

The Onyx Army is the name given by historians to the collective military forces of the Onyx Empire during the Wars of Arin. During that time, they fought the collective forces of the White Alliance, which became known as the White Army.

Beginnings

The Onyx Army grew out of the forces of the country of Arin, more specifically the city of Arek. At the time, the land was ruled by King Floyd V of the House of Floyd. The city's army was no more than a few hundred strong, and was commanded by a Human warrior named Aloys. This changed when King Floyd fell under the influence of Keraptis, and while Aloys remained the nominal leader, the Onyx Lord was the one who called the shots.

Early days of the wars

Soon after the wars began in earnest, Aloys was killed during a skirmish with the Dwarves of the Thair Mountains. Some say he was killed by his own troops, whose numbers were now swelled by Keraptis' Grazhnakh. Command was turned over to Zathmore, one of Keraptis' students, and the army of Arin was soon marauding across the MidLands.

Later days of the wars

Eventually, Arin's forces were joined by those of the lands they had conquered, including Garnath and Tanilon. These divisions were led by Zathmore and the Dark Elf Daelras, but that too did not last. By the end of the wars, the Drow was the supreme commander, a position which he held until the fall of Keraptis. After that event, the army was dissolved, with the remnants led by Daelras' brother Delgon.
