The Organization

The Organization was the name used by a group of thugs and criminals that showed up in the town of Semmarch shortly before Hanaellan's withdrawal from the White Alliance. Led by a man named Karvanis, they took to shaking down a number of local businesses, even killing at least three of their owners to make an example to the others. At first, this drew the ire of the local thieves' guild, but enough guild members became part of The Organization or supported it that the guild came to be seen as complicit.

Over the course of six months, the group's acitivites became more and more brazen, and a bit of a resistance formed. This resistance centered on a handful of shopkeepers, including Alean, Sidara, and Kestrel Draper. The three were approached by Talen, an adventurer who was trying to get information about the group. He was accompanied on a mission to the Caves of Chaos by Draper and Regular Joe, who was Alean's assistant. Both perished during the adventure.

When Talen left Semmarch on another adventure, Alean rallied the remaining shopkeepers and called upon the region's ruler, Duke Mirdael Hanaestor, to declare martial law, since Kent Mydland, the Castellan of Semmarch's Keep and de facto mayor, was unable to control things. Eventually, this was exactly what occurred, with Mydland being deposed in favor of Captain Strickham. Ilmarian, the leader of the Thieves' Guild, was imprisoned, though he later escaped, and Karvanis fled the city. The Organization disappeared.

There are many who suspect that Duke Mirdael, or someone connected to him, was behind The Organization, including most members of the Semmarch Resistance. To date, however, proof of any such connection has proven elusive.
