Chargechalk Casselwort

Chargechalk Casselwort, usually known simply as "Chalk", is a Rock Gnome priest of Sedric, god of the heavens and travelers. Big of nose, quick with a laugh, he is the son of Zebeneysour Casselwort, the prosperous owner of the Casselwort chalk mine which supplies all the schools in the land with slates and chalk.

Background

Chalk's father's love of mining and excavation led him to want his son to inherit the family business but Chargechalk had a more spiritual calling. His father's lavish donations to Sedric helped his son move up in station to be located in the main temple in Nazivonema. He made a gift to his son of a suit of Gnomish leather armor to aid him in survival.

Chargechalk knows the duty of faithful priests of Sedric is to help guide strangers. His wish is to join adventuring parties, so he concentrates on the skills of healing. Being a small and weak gnome, Chargechalk devotes a good deal of his time praying for defensive spells.

He drinks ale like a fish -- especially when there is a chill on the beverage -- loves to sing songs, and has a fondness for gemstones of all kinds, especially diamonds. While adventuring, he likes to use trickery and illusions instead of fighting.

Adventuring career

Chargechalk made a promise to his father to promote Casselwort Chalk throughout the lands he travels. He always carries a bag of Casselwort chalk around and occasionally offers a complementary stick of it to passersby.

He is noted for being part of the party that retrieved the Most Sacred Crock of Cheese that had been stolen by the Maluur. Though he perished on the way to Shaiyo (killed by a drow's darkning bolt), he was later raised at the insistence of his father.

Semi-retirement

Since his return, Chalk decided to become a translator, which can aid both the temple and his father's business. However, after an incident involving some miscommunication between the Council of Merchants and the Allied Temples regarding an expedition to the ruins to the west, Chalk was transferred to Sedric's temple in Veclinnius.
