White Castle

The White Castle is a structure located in the center of the city of Morelenas. It serves as the symbolic center of the White Alliance, the meeting place of the White Council, and the residence of the council president, Lukus the Blue. Official alliance business is rarely conducted here, though dignitaries from each of the member duchies has a permanent chamber within the castle's walls.

History

The original White Castle was built during the reign of Selliken I of the House of Wesber. This building was mostly intended as a defensive structure, built with the southern wall overlooking the Bay of Light. While the building was mostly white, it was accented with green and gold, the Wesber colors. As time went on, the castle became less and less important for defense, and its primary purpose was converted to the residence of the Wesberian monarchs.

Current structure

The current Castle was built shortly after the founding of the Alliance, and was first inhabited by Lord Morley Pallianor. It was designed by the great architect Gearloose Zanderkelliam of Transha, which was not yet a member duchy of the Alliance. It is the largest single building in Kellan, and contains over six hundred rooms. Instead of the green-and-gold accents of the previous building, it is now trimmed with varying shades of blue to reflect the livery of the Alliance.

The castle no longer sits directly on the coast, but is instead about a quarter-mile inland, in the center of a walled complex which now abuts the bay. During the Wars of Arin, many of the rulers and generals essentially lived here, including Zorg, Thorin Archer, Elawita, Marcus Ironwolf, and Roderick Harper. Their living quarters are now unoccupied and are treated as something of a museum.
