Chasing Marauders

Following their dismissal by Derryk of Oak from his mission, Corelda and her party undertook another mission in Agropthos. Specifically, they decided to answer a posting regarding treasure that had been stolen from caravans passing through the desert to the north by a band of marauders led by the outlaw Zarasto. The party found the marauders' lair in a canyon, but while they were searching it, the Riders of Ramond arrived. The Riders took the party to be the marauders, and their anger was roused when Vel nearly killed one of them by accident. One of the riders killed Lehandro before the misunderstanding was straightened out.

Since the marauders were not in their lair, Gilbert and Corelda accompanied the riders to a nearby oasis to gather information while the rest of the group brought what merchandise they could recover back to the city. There, they spoke with Thisgi Farnhor, who was running a business supplying guards to passing caravans. He told them of some of his own encounters with the marauders, and in return the two travelers hired his guards for their journey back to Agropthos.

After selling some merchandise at auction -- at which one of the buyers, suspected of being one of the dreaded Witches of the Sand, gave them phony gold -- the party regrouped at the canyon, but not before being attacked by giant scorpions, one of which killed Marcus Hawkwing. The party chased the marauders out of their lair, but did not recover any additional treasure. After encountering a band of thri-kreen on their return trip, they once again settled in at the Inn of the Shifting Sands in search of a new adventure.
