Quentin's Item

After Talen and his companions had cleared the Caves of Chaos of the Servants of Kuraliskar, they had apparently made a name for themselves. Following their brief diversion to an enchanted wood, they were recruited to deliver an item to Quentin Australe on the island of Transha.

The nature of the mission was suspicious from the beginning, and drew the attention of several factions. First, there was The Black Knight, who placed a pair of spies, Brozhin and Ishmakha, with the group. When Grayson Palomedes defeated Brozhin in single combat, the Black Knight agreed to allow them to go on their way. Then, there were the Dewelars, who contacted the party following their run-in with the Black Knight, whom they were told was a servant of Morjec. Their leader, Robert Scorpio, told the party to carry on with the mission, and the Dewelars would step in if necessary.

Eventually, the party went to Transha, accompanied by Vance, who was an operative of the Dewelars. The item turned out to be a bottle containing an imprisoned efreeti, and in fact was not being delivered to Australe at all, but to a group of githyanki led by the mage Bargle, who were hoping to get the efreeti to aid them in learning how to use Black Razor. Fortunately, the efreeti did not help, and the githyanki killed Bargle for his trouble. One of the githyanki seized the sword and killed Damian, but the sword turned on him, and the party was able to escape in the ensuing chaos.
