Allied Temple Avoidance

Following Alysten's death in Ruisti Forest while on a mission for the Allied Temples to gather information on a temple of Kuraliskar, the party knew they would not be able to get her resurrected back in Nazivonema. Instead, they decided instead to head for Hanmer, where there was a temple to Laurent, who was Alysten's patron deity. Thalvorn took his leave, preferring to help his people fight the Maluur that had invaded Shael i'Vor and seized Lassomaranza.

The party set off along the East-West Road, and along the way they stopped in the town of Warshick. There, they overheard a group of travelers discussing a message they were bearing from Duke Mirdael Hanaestor to Lord Brownstoke. Since the group had had earlier dealings with a group dedicated to driving Mirdael out of the area, they decided to pilfer the note. After Nevyn was able to trick the guards into getting drunk, Shimwell was able to lift it out of the messenger's bag and replace it with a blank piece of paper. The party also met a pair of Karis mercenaries, Brozhin and Ishmakha, who joined them on the road.

The next day, the party set out early, but the messenger and his guards caught up with them on the road near a grove of trees. The party was able to defeat them, but Koku broke her leg falling out of a tree while trying to shoot her bow.

The party was forced to carry Koku for several days before they catch up to a caravan that is also traveling to Hanmer. The caravan was led by a druid named Kizmet, who was delivering herbs to the city to help cure a plague that has broken out. Kizmet was able to heal Koku's leg, but soon thereafter she and Nevyn tried to buy some of the herbs so that they might trade them for the means to resurrect Alysten. Unfortunately, they not only failed, but turned Kizmet against them, at which point she cast an entangle spell on them in order to prevent them from interfering further. This forced the group to part ways with the caravan.

The party decided to enter Hanmer despite the plague, with the exception of Brozhin and Ishmakha, who camped just outside the city to await the caravan's arrival. The party arrived at the Red Dragon Inn, where they meet a woman named Allegra Brownstoke, who happened to be the niece of the very Lord Brownstoke to whom Duke Mirdael's missive was bound. Allegra thanked the party, then discussed her own mission, inviting the party to join her.
